Oilers forward gets the monkey off his back for scoring a goal!
Ryan Nugent Hopkins has had a banner year this year with the Oilers and had the best seasonal stats of his career. Having spent 12 years in his career with the Oilers the most his point total was 69 points in 2018-2019. In 2022-2023 however, playing 82 games, he scored 37 goals and 67 assists for 104 points.
Many Oilers fans hoped that pace would continue into the playoffs. Unfortunately, through nine games this postseason he scored no goals.
During Game 4 against the Golden Knights, that issue was gone as RNH managed to score his first goal of the playoffs.
When the goal was scored, Oilers superstar centerman Connor McDavid showed his love and elation for his teammates' goal, which put the Oilers up 4 to nothing with five minutes left in the second.
The Oilers organization hopes that the dam will break after this goal has been scored and that nuge will help propel the Oilers to their second Western Conference final berth in two seasons.
