Matt Murray, the two-time Stanley Cup champion from the Pittsburgh Penguins who spent a few years with the Ottawa Senators, received a chorus of boos from the Ottawa Senators fan base when he started the game with his new team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Murray's career in Ottawa was short as he was constantly under the siege of injury. During his time with the Senators, he only played 47 games over two years. He won only 15 games, lost 25 and lost 3 in overtime.

Murray was traded to the Maple Leafs including a 2023 third-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round pick. The Maple Leafs sent back future considerations which meant it was a salary dump for the senators.

Murray's tenure with the Maple Leafs so far has been rocky as he has gone through another spot of injuries, however, he has played more games. He has looked spectacular in stretches, and at other times he has gone through periods of confusion and poor play.

The Maple Leafs will require him to be consistently going down the stretch and into the playoffs as they have a two-goalie system with Ilya Samsonov who's been their number one goaltender all year and Murray as a playoff expert.

Time will tell if this tandem will carry the Maple Leafs past the first round for the first time since 2004.
