Sharks star has words for Jay Woodcroft.
I wrote a few articles ago that Oilers Head Coach Jay Woodcroft had passed a milestone regarding his position as head coach and is the second-most winning coach past 100 games since taking over earlier in 2022.
He also did a very classy move, recognizing that aging defenseman Jason Demers had reached the 700-game milestone and must be dressed so that he can achieve that landmark stat.
This move did not go unnoticed throughout the NHL as San Jose Sharks star Logan Couture weighed in on this move and felt that Woodcroft deserved a nod for the respect of one of his players and Couture's former teamates.
The 34-year-old defenseman has been employed by five NHL organizations. Having crossed the 700-game mark, he has scored 45 goals with 169 assists for 214 points. He holds a + 30 overall and 407 penalty minutes.
It remains to be seen if the Oilers will use him during the playoff run, but for now, it's a great statistic for a player in the twilight of his career.
