Surprising Oilers Defensemen Lands in Top 6 Best Defensemen
The Edmonton Oilers are having a good year up until this point, with being just 2 points out of 3rd place in the pacific with two games in hand on the LA Kings and are also 2 points behind Vegas for the 2nd spot with 1 game in hand. None of this would be possible without one current player on the team.
No, we aren't talking about McDavid, we are talking about Evan Bouchard who isn't having as great of a year point wise like he did during his rookie season, but his play in the defensive end has been immaculate. Despite being a +/- -5 Bouchard ranks 1st place on the Oilers in takeaways and is currently tied for 6th in the NHL at 5v5.
With him being in just his second year and only 23 years old this is pretty promising for a young defensemen. Even though he only has 18 points on the season his play has been an important part to the teams success, and you never know without him leading the team in takeaways the Oilers might not be tied for first in GF this year.
