The Edmonton Oilers are still in belief they can be a Stanley Cup contender if they can make it into the playoffs this season. With the Oilers currently tied with their battle of Alberta rivals the Calgary Flames with 51 points, the Oilers are believed to be buyers before the NHL's trade deadline.
The Oilers General Manager Ken Holland has reportedly been in talks with the Arizona Coyotes who is once again having their annual sale as they continue the rebuild, that's seemed like it's went on for over a decade, but none the less the Oilers have shown interest in acquiring Nick Richie, aswell as believed to trying to acquire Shane Gostisbehere and trying to land Jakob Chychrun.
The Coyotes have been trying to trade Chychrun for the past 2 season's but many feel the Coyotes asking price is just too high. However, Gostisbehere would be a solid plan b and the addition of Richie for a playoff run won't hurt either.
