The Edmonton Oilers have been in search of a solid defenseman for quite some time, and they finally found their missing piece at this year's NHL trade deadline.

Mattias Ekholm was acquired by the Oilers in a trade deal that saw Tyson Barrie leave the team. While the trade may have been controversial at the time, the numbers show that the Oilers have come out as clear winners. Since the arrival of Ekholm, the Oilers have an impressive record of 13-2-1. Ekholm has also been performing well, with 3 goals, 8 assists, and a +/- rating of +18 in just 16 games with the Oilers.

Alongside him, Evan Bouchard has been thriving, with 3 goals, 11 assists, and a +/- rating of +6 in 16 games with a total time on ice of 21:17. Bouchard's performance is also remarkable, as he is 9th in NHL D scoring since March 1st. It's clear that the addition of Ekholm has made a significant impact on the Oilers, and they will be looking to continue their success as they head into the playoffs.
