The Edmonton Oilers give touching tribute to one of their past staff
The Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton Eskimos were fortunate enough to have Joey Moss as their dressing-room attendant.
Moss, born with Down syndrome, developed a friendship with The Great One when he was dating Moss's sister. Due to Gretzky's help, Moss landed the job thanks to his networking skills.
The Edmonton Oilers have added a touching tribute to Oilers legend, Joey Moss yesterday after their website got a re-design.
It was Moss who held the position for over three decades with the team, and with the new Oilers website redesign, it was a posthumous tribute, that gave Moss the recognition he deserved.
In a touching gesture, Moss was named part of the Edmonton Oilers' training staff. In recognition of his decades of service behind the scenes, Moss was even awarded the Seventh Man Award by the NHL Alumni Association.
On October 26th, 2020, Moss passed away.
Once an Oiler, Always An Oiler.
