Former Minnesota North Stars defenseman Brad Maxwell passed away due to lung cancer, marking a loss for the hockey community. Maxwell, the 7th overall pick in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft, played over 600 NHL games for various teams, with his primary stint in Minnesota.
Despite not winning a Stanley Cup, he achieved the Memorial Cup in 1977 and earned an NHL All-Star title in 1983-84.
