One thing is clear. The Edmonton Oilers are an excellent organization for the community that recognizes and helps children in need. From February 7th through 17th, the Oilers' mega 50/50 draw will benefit the Ben Stelter Fund, administered by Stollery Children's Hospital foundation.
The story of Ben Stelter was heartwarming and a tragic loss. The young superfan was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a rare form of brain cancer, and became the heartbeat of the Oilers' playoff run last season. He was present at every home game to their Western Conference final, where they had a ten-game winning streak.
Sadly on August 10th, 2022, Stelter passed away at 6. It's essential to recognize that organizations like the Oilers continue to help and fundraise for research on this terrible disease, along with all the generous fans who donate their hard-earned dollars.
Even though some time has passed, we offer our sincere condolences to the family for their loss.
