GM Ken Holland has been doing his job, checking out every possibility to improve his club. While not every inquiry he makes on a prospective player may lead to a trade, he must check to be sure.

One possibility which appeared recently was adding forward Travis Konecny. The Flyers have been wheeling and dealing since newly appointed GM Danny Briere took over the reins in Philadelphia.

He has already dealt away Ivan Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets who are fortifying their blueline with intense fashion. They also collected Damon Severson from the Devils in a sign and trade deal.

Konecny has a $5.5 million contract through 2024-25. Hie had 31 goals and 30 assists in 60 games. That means he averaged 1.02 points per game. That kind of offense may not be an immediate need on an Oiler team that scores at will.

Konecny would definitely fit right in for the Oilers top-six, but the salary cap is always an issue.

The team has a reported $5.9 million in cap space with some players yet to be signed. There have been rumors that the team may be shopping forwards Warren Foegele and Kailer Yamamoto.

With the Flyers tearing it down in a rebuilding process, adding one or both of those forwards may be a good thing.

The NHL draft is coming up on June 28-29, and we can expect some moves being made.

Will Holland be able to swing a deal for Konecny? You never know.
