The NHL video games have been on a decline for a while now, but this just shows how far they've actually dropped.
At the All Star Game, the NHL had set up TV's for people to play some video games at a fan event. By the time it was all said and done, they shut down all TV's that had NHL 24 on them. According to this report, people didn't like the mechanics at all, especially the hitting.

EA Sports have ruined the NHL games. You look at NHL 11 or NHL 14, games that are very fun. Then you go play NHL 24 and you're thinking, «What is this?» The checking sucks, they've taken out the ability to dump the puck in, a simple play in the game of hockey.
NHL 24 is a terrible hockey game and the NHL should revoke EA's license to develop the game or demand change.
The fact that it's at the NHL All Star Game and not one screen was left with the NHL 24 menu on it is embarrassing. NHL and EA Sports should be ashamed.
