Moments ago, the Edmonton Oilers made the official announcement that they've recalled forward Dylan Holloway from the AHL. Just before the All-Star Break, Holloway was sent down to continue playing games and rehabbing from the injury he's just recently returning from.

However, Holloway didn't actually end up playing any games with the Bakersfield Condors while he was sent down. Instead it seems that the Oilers took advantage of an opportunity to get some savings on the salary cap, and still allowed Holloway to take a vacation - with the condition that he didn't post any beach pics on Instagram and get the Oilers in trouble from the league for the paper transaction.

Now that the Oilers have recalled only Holloway and not defenceman Philip Kemp, the team seems to be priming themselves to create cap space for a move at the trade deadline. By only recalling Holloway, the Oilers will have a total of $2.4M available in space at the deadline - and they could acquire much more using salary retention in a trade.

Reportedly targeting an impact forward addition for trade, including names like Jake Guentzel, Jordan Eberle, and Travis Konecny, the Oilers will need as much cap space as they can get to make a move. It could seriously help if the team could trade Jack Campbell's contract as well, who has been playing significant better in the AHL lately.
