Hockey in Edmonton is very much alive these days, with the Oilers recently clinching a playoff spot to make another run at a Stanley Cup. There's another Edmonton hockey franchise in the news that needs to be mentioned. They are the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings.
The Oil Kings are up for a business award as the WHL franchise that led in attendance leaguewide all year this year.
According to the WHL, the oil kings averaged over 6500 fans per night along with a new seat strategy that had their highest early bird renewal in the last decade.
This award is presented to a WHL club that shows that the organization gives back to the community and gives an amazing experience to fans every night.
Even though the oil kings are having a terrible season with a record of 10-54-4 so far it shows how well the organization is run to have them lead in attendance with even this going on.
We wish the oil kings the best of luck in their hope of winning this award And that hard work is rewarded from time to time.
