Last night, the Edmonton Oilers faced off against the Vancouver Canucks in game 7 of their second round series, which they would win by a score of 3-2 to advance to the Western Conference Finals. One of the players that is really coming into his own this season but particularly through the first two rounds of the playoffs is defender Evan Bouchard, who now holds the record for most points by a defenceman through the first two rounds of the playoffs according to Puck Empire; take a look.
Bouchard, 24, played in 81 regular season games with the Edmonton Oilers this season collecting 82 points, including 18 goals and 64 assists. He's followed that up in the playoffs playing 12 games scoring 5 goals and adding 15 assists for a total of 20 points, which is the record as I previously stated through the first two rounds of the playoffs.
It took him a little bit to arrive, but if this past season and postseason is any indication, Evan Bouchard is going to be really good for the Edmonton Oilers for a long time.
We'll see if Bouchard can continue this pace, if he does, the Oilers will go as far as he takes them on the back end.
