BREAKING: Hurricanes scratch star forward due to imminent trade
Moments ago, NHL insider Chris Johnston dropped a bombshell report that the Carolina Hurricanes will be scratching forward Michael Bunting due to an imminent trade.
Bunting will be out tonight for the Hurricanes' last game before the trade deadline, and this comes alongside reports that Carolina is becoming the front runner to acquire Jake Guentzel in trade. GM Kyle Dubas in Pittsburgh is very familiar with Michael Bunting, and it's very possible that Bunting could be part of the return for a potential Guentzel trade.
The Hurricanes signed Bunting last offseason after his breakout years with the Leafs. He's kept up moderate success this year, scoring 13 goals and 36 points in 60 games. He's under contract for the next three years for a manageable $4.5M.
