Canadian team could be first to clinch playoff spot tonight
With the massive turnaround of the Vancouver Canucks this season, they have finally decided to keep their play up for a whole season.
They've shown what they can do during the regular season and have finally found crazy success. With them being at the top of the NHL for points, we finally have our first playoff clinching scenario with tonight's very important games.
In tonight's games, all the Canucks have to do to clinch playoffs is to get one more point against the Kings than the Blues do against the Knights. That means the Canucks just have to win against the Kings and have the Blues lose in any fashion, or the Canucks can clinch if they grab an OTL against the Kings and the Blues lose in regulation.
This is very important for the Oilers because the closer we get to playoffs the more it looks like the matchup will be Oilers against Kings in the first round. These two teams are building quite the playoff rivalry and three series in three years would be unbelievably entertaining. If the Kings drop to the wildcard spot below Vegas, that could be terrible news for the Oilers in the first round. It'll be interesting to keep an eye on the pacific standings this season and tonight plays a huge role in the playoff seeding.
