Guentzel is a pending unrestricted free agent after spending half the season with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the other half with the Carolina Hurricanes. Seravalli thinks that the contract will close in on seven years and $9.5 million per season.
Several pundits across the NHL also feel that Vancouver is the likely landing spot for the 29-year-old centre. While splitting his time between the two teams, he played 67 games, scored thirty goals with 47 assists for 77 points and was a + 25.
Guentzel was one of the most sought-after trade pieces during the deadline as he brings A level of goal scoring and strength to the game which many teams would covet. Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin has been a very busy man since taking his post as he has remade the Vancouver Canucks especially on their blue line.
The team currently has 17 players signed for next year and has a current cap space of $16 million which means the Canucks can absorb his money. However, the team has several other players to look forward including Nikita Zadorov, Tyler Myers, Elias Lindholm and Artus Silovs Who are still waiting for a new deal.
It will continue to be a busy summer and it remains to be seen on what will come next for the Canucks.
