Chicago Blackhawks have shocking news about Connor Bedard
Moments ago, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman released a bombshell report about the league's new phenom talent Connor Bedard. According to Friedman, the Chicago Blackhawks are aiming for Bedard to return to the lineup tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins. His health was reportedly progressing well, but it's shocking that he could return as soon as tonight, much earlier than his expected return.
In early January this year, Bedard took a clean hit from Devils' defenceman Brendan Smith. Bedard fell back awkwardly holding is mouth, and did not return to the game. Later, it was revealed he sustained a broken jaw on the play, and he underwent surgery to repair it a few days later.
From there, Bedard was expected to miss about 6-8 weeks recovering from surgery. It's been just five weeks now, and there's a possibility he can return to the lineup tonight. It shows Bedard's desperate to get back in the lineup and helping his teammates, and recovered extraordinarily well from the injury.
With 15 goals and 33 points in 39 games this year on an absolutely horrible Blackhawks team, Connor Bedard has been far and away the best rookie this year, and has lived up to his hype before his draft. At this point he's still the favourite to win the Calder Trophy for best rookie this year, and if he returns soon and can produce the way he did before the injury, he'll have the award on lock. It's great to see the league's best young talent recover from injury so quickly and re-join the team.
