Team Canada has reached out to Chicago Blackhawks superstar Connor Bedard to formally invite him to join the team during this year's Men's World Championship. Even with the season still underway, it's widely expected he will say yes to this invitation.
This news was revealed during an episode of TSN's insider trading where Pierre LeBrun and Chris Johnston discussed what the initial stages are for Team Canada has general manager Rick Nash tries to piece his new team together. Having Team Canada reach out to Connor Bedard and fellow Team Canada Jr. Mason McTavish would give his squad a new look and a new face for the next era along with several world juniors under their belt.
Both pundits also spoke about the potential of a Crosby Bedard line up. They felt it would be an amazing sight to see both these great players playing together. It also remains to be seen on whether Crosby will agree to join the roster as the Penguins are only five points out of a playoff spot.
It became a common site during the preseason that Both men were around one another often as the NHL media tour showcased both stars which led the starstruck 18-year-old called Crosby «my childhood idol.»
This longstanding tournament has gone back all the way since 1920 when it was introduced during the 1920 Summer Olympics. Team Canada has been the most successful with 28 titles and they were the most recent champ as they won in 2023. As competitive as Rick Nash was during his NHL days, it's highly likely that this roster will be deadly to deal with.
