McDavid is videotaped by a group of fans while walking to his car carrying several cases of alcohol, likely celebrating the Oilers Stanley Cup Final berth before heading to Florida. McDavid kept his head down and just tried to load his car, but the fans kept surrounding him.
McDavid seemed cordial enough with the fans, but clearly did not want to interact with them at the time. The fans were leaning into his car, blocking his movement, and even trying to hug him, but McDavid powered through just to get to his car.
Honestly, this type of behaviour from the fans is entirely disrespectful. There's a time and place to interact with NHL stars, but surrounding them in a parking lot with their family is never the place. McDavid has had some awkward interactions with fans before, but this one looks entirely on the fans fault. Other Oilers fans have come out to condemn the fans' behaviour, and McDavid's professional handling of the situation.
McDavid was just out with his fiancée likely wanting to celebrate a massive career accomplishment, but unfortunately had to deal with this fan harassment. Props to the Capitan for keeping his cool and powering through a difficult situation.
For the first time in his career now, McDavid is heading to the Stanley Cup Final - and his sole focus is on that goal right now. Through whatever distractions are thrown at him, McDavid and the Oilers can deal with adversity and push through.
