McDavid was quick to point out that no matter which team they play on in the NHL, the transition to play on the same team for Team Canada was quick and not as difficult as many feel.
He states that all players on Team Canada are playing for the same goal and that's to win the tournament regardless of which team they played for in the past.
Team Canada has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to star players as the NHL is still run by predominately Canadian players.
Team Canada will face stiff competition from Team USA which has improved dramatically over the past 10 years, and many will not count out team Sweden as they have always snuck into the finals when it comes to these kinds of tournaments.
McDavid along with his teammates seemed primed and ready to go for this tournament as it's been planned for several months, and this tournament could give a preview of what the 2026 Team Canada Olympic team will look like as there will be
many stars still playing in the NHL at the time.
This is the inaugural year for this tournament and the NHL has high hopes that this will become a mainstay within their lineup of tournaments and outdoor games.
This is an opportunity for the league to show the world more hockey and their talented stars and it will also give players a chance for rest on other teams and countries that are not participating.
The stage is set and game one will be on February 12 in Montreal and the final game will be played in Boston on February 20th.
