For road playoff games, Stars fans are able to go inside the arena and watch the game on the jumbotron, but also see the game tracked in real time via projections on ice.
It's an absolutely incredible sight, and a great usage for real-time tracking technology. As the NHL implements more of this tracking technology both in players skates and in pucks, it's very possible that this becomes a more popular sight around the NHL. Not only that, but there's incredible potential for where this could expand to.
Seeing a full arena watching an away game by projections on the ice, it's not hard to imagine sports fans paying to watch road games at the home arena with full holograms. If teams can find more opportunities to charge the price of ti jets and admission, they absolutely will - and this could be an incredible new experience from fans.
It's incredible to see this technology begin to make its way into the mainstream, and to see it be applied to hockey in a great way for the fans. Soon at Rogers Place, there's potential for fans to watch all 82 games a year, instead of just 41.
