Towards the back end of the trade deadline this week, a last minute blockbuster trade nearly came to fruition as the Boston Bruins nearly traded goaltender Linus Ullmark. In a report about the situation on Sportsnet recently, Elliotte Friedman seemed to accidentally reveal that the team trading for Ullmark was the Ottawa Senators.

The Bruins obviously have a great position of strength with their goaltending due of Ullmark and Swayman, both of whom are NHL starting caliber goalies. The Bruins could command a great price for Ullmark, and Ottawa makes perfect sense as a team looking for stability in the crease. According to Kevin Weekes, a trade got so far down the line that Ullmark invoked his no-trade clause to prevent a move - which also leads more credence to the team being Ottawa.

In Friedman's report, he noted that the Bruins would circle back in the offseason to see if they can deal one of their goalies to improve the team in other spots, and likely, Ottawa will reemerge as an interested trading partner. It'll be interesting to keep track of, but it seems like once again a player nixed a blockbuster trade to send them to a Canadian team.
