Moments ago, reports emerged that Ken Holland will be joining the Utah Hockey Club in some capacity.

Former NHLer Jordan Schmaltz broke the news on social media. Utah Hockey Club already has a quality general manager in Bill Armstrong, but perhaps Holland joins on as a President of Hockey Operations, or simply an advisor.

Ken Holland and the Edmonton Oilers mutually parted ways this offseason when his contract expired. At 68 years old, many believed that Holland was looking at retirement - a rumour he didn't deny. If he's joining on with Utah, it's likely that he's there for a short term to help build up the new franchise. The Edmonton Oilers just let go his son Brad Holland from his role as assistant GM, so perhaps Brad re-joins his father in Utah.

Ken Holland had a turbulent time in Edmonton with great successes and failures, but came short of the ultimate goal of winning the Stanley Cup. Had the Oilers not made major salary mistakes with players like Jack Campbell, Darnell Nurse, and so many more - who knows how much better they could've done in the past. Despite his disputed moves with the Oilers, he gets some of the credit for their Cup Final appearance, and adds to his legacy as one of the most successful GMs in NHL history.
