The home and away jerseys will both feature a modernized version of the Gretzky-era logo, along with a simple and sleek design for the arm piping and along the bottom of the jersey. The Kings also look to be ditching the silver helmets in favour for a matte black with home jerseys, and a regular white for away games.
The simplicity of the jersey along with the classic logo really makes for some of the best jerseys in hockey. Their purple and gold alternates are fantastic as well, and potentially those make a comeback in the future as well.
Beckoning back to the Gretzky era for jerseys is an incredible decision, and looks much better than the current shield-type logo. Plenty of fans, not just from the Kings, took to social media to praise these New Jerseys.
These new jerseys are part of a larger re-brand the team is going to undertake both on and off the ice. Frustrated with building a contending team only to lose to the Oilers in the first round for three years, the Kings already shook up the roster by trading Pierre-Luc Dubois, and are expected to add more significant pieces to their roster for next year. The Kings hope these new threads with the old logo will usher in a new era of Kings hockey.
