The day after Florida Panthers won their first Stanley Cup, Matthew Tkachuk broke a serious rule with the best trophy in sports, and then took a shot at the Calgary Flames

Tkachuk took the Stanley Cup for a dip in the Atlantic Ocean the morning after the Panthers won, and according to David Dwork of the Hockey News, it was a serious violation of NHL rules.

"We had nobody with us to say, Matthew, don't be an idiot.'"

Matthew Tkachuk didn't know it was against the rules to take the Stanley Cup into the ocean. It also wasn't his idea, and he's making sure proper credit is given.

There won't be any official penalty for Tkachuk taking the Cup for a swim in the ocean, but it will endear him even more to the fans of the Florida Panthers. Not only that, but today Tkachuk made an Instagram post to commemorate the 2 year anniversary of his trade to the Panthers.

On a side note . . . Today is a good day! I will remember July 22nd 2022 for the rest of my life!

It's certainly stinging Calgary Flames fans that Tkachuk would call his departure from their team one of the best days of his life, but it's turned out to be an incredible success for him personally. On the other hand, the Flames signed the worst contract in the league with Jonathan Huberdeau. What seemed to be an even blockbuster trade at the time is now one of the most lobsided trades in recent NHL history.

The Panthers barely held on to win the Cup Final in seven games, after the Oilers nearly completed a miracle 0-3 series comeback. Next season, hopefully we'll be seeing the Oilers run antics with the Cup in Alberta.
