In tonight's game between the Utah Hockey Club and the New York Rangers, a wild scene broke out after a whistle in the second period.

In a scrum around the Utah net, things quickly got heated and players began separating for a few spirited fights.

Former Oiler Sam Carrick paired off in a fight alongside the boards with another former Oiler Michael Kesselring, and Carrick absolutely fed the young Utah defender his lunch. Honestly, seeing this fight is a reminder of the lost toughness in the Oilers bottom six this season, and perhaps something they'll need to address. Carrick beat Kesselring so bad, that he was clearly bleeding from his head while heading to the penalty box.

The other fight was much more tame, between two younger players in Adam Edstrom and Jack McBain. They seemed to throw some harder punches while the camera focused on Carrick, but towards the end of the fight, Edstrom gave a pat to give his respect to the young Utah forward. Then, Edstrom hyped up the crowd to gain some energy for a comeback.

The Utah Hockey Club is having a hot start to their franchise history with a 2-0 record, and looking to take another victory from the President's Trophy winners last season. Utah has a young and talented group, and if they can mature a bit to develop an identity of team toughness as well, they could really make a push to make the playoffs in their first year of existence.

The Oilers will meet Utah for the first time this season on November 29th in Salt Lake City. It's always exciting to see a new franchise come into the league, and if they can play as an exciting game like Utah does, they'll quickly make some fans they didn't have while in Arizona.
