NHL insider Dave Pagnotta revealed that Flames star Nazem Kadri is willing to waive his no movement clause for a former team.

Pagnotta explains that even with a no movement clause Kadri is open to leaving the Flames and heading to the Colorado Avalanche.

»My understanding with respect to (Kadri) is that he's willing to waive (the no-move clause) for the right situation. I think he would welcome a return to Colorado»

It seemed that Kadri wanted to stay with the Flames as he had signed a 7 year $49 million contract that holds a $7,000,000 cap hit. The situation in Calgary has changed greatly in the past several years as the team has transformed from a playoff team with Stanley Cup aspirations to almost an expansion team as the exodus of great players continues.

If the Colorado Avalanche wants him to return, it will take some out-of-the-box thinking in terms of their cap as they only have less than $5 million of cap space. Would need to be returned to Calgary in the form of a less desirable contract on the short term which would help craft the deal.

Kadri played 82 games last year and had scored 29 goals with 46 assists for 75 points. It remains to be seen on whether general manager Craig Conroy can craft a deal or willing to make one as a player like Kadri would be hard to replace being a veteran player and is giving great production.
