Ovechkin has always been a physical force with incredible strength throughout his career. He's measured up all the way to 260 pounds in his career, but it's always been in hard muscle. Already slowing down with age, Ovechkin can't fall behind on his conditioning if he wants to keep pace and break Gretzky's goal record.
Last season Ovechkin was quiet for a vast majority of the year, but still found enough hot stretches to score another 31 goals in 79 games. He only needs 42 goals over the next two years to beat Gretzky's record of 894, but with age fighting against him, it could be a close call. Some fans think Ovechkin can still break the record with his raw talent, and others think this is a sign he could be falling off.
