Seidel was the person in question who received texts from Marek during the draft which led to Sportsnet parting ways with the long-time radio and television host. Seidel composed an e-mail to barrietoday.com and expressed his views on what had happened and how he's innocent.
It was also reported that he has had run ins with the NHL before which has caused him trouble as they have suspected of Issues in the past.
This time around, the story from the Athletic told that Marek was providing draft information to Seidel prior to the NHL teams picking their player. Seidel then posted on the X platform the names of the players that were drafted before that choice was made. There were also suspicions that this information was being used in illegal betting which was proven not to be true.
It remains to be seen on what will happen with Jeff Marek as he has released a statement about his parting ways and that he is looking forward to his next chapter in his Life in hockey.
