Oilers front office voted among least trustworthy in the league
Oilers front office voted among least popular in NHL.
After the amazing offseason acting GM Jeff Jackson had, skeptical Oilers fans believed that they may finally have someone that they can trust will make good moves in the front office. This all came crashing down when they decided to hire Stan Bowman at the permanent position, getting rid of all the confidence Jackson had just built up.
Oilers fans have always been justifiably critical of their front office, as the Oilers have easily been one of the most mismanaged franchises within the last decade and a half.
It seemed that this relationship was on the mend with the moves Jeff Jackson made, as the Oilers are just closing out their best offseason in a very long time. The Oilers were gaining favour from their fans before the Bowman hiring, but most confidence seems to have been lost again until he can prove himself.
All of that goodwill seemed to evaporate with the franchise's controversial hiring of Stan Bowman, which was panned by many fans. On top of being banished from the league for three years for what the NHL deemed an «inadequate response» to sexual assault allegations brought forth by former Blackhawks player Kyle Beach, there's also a lengthy track record of questionable decision-making in Chicago.
Oilers fans seem to be cursed to have constant worries or unknowns in their front office. Hopefully the Bowman hiring will end up being good for the franchise, but it doesn't seem to be a popular choice with fans whatsoever.
