Nowadays, Grant Fuhr
is retired and living in California where he works as a broadcaster for the AHL's Coachella Valley Firebirds. In the AHL he's seen plenty of Calgary Flames prospect Dustin Wolf, who he recently spoke about in a new interview.
While speaking to the Calgary Herald, Fuhr highly praised Dustin Wolf and guaranteed that he'll be a high-end starting goalie.
Perhaps one of the most interesting things about Wolf as a high-end goalie prospect is his smaller stature at 6'0. Most modern day NHL goalies are huge, but Fuhr says Wolf's athleticism and competitiveness will always keep him available to make a save - and you don't need to be tall to have success.
It's great to see Fuhr still an active presence in hockey and following the future of the game at 61 years old. Fuhr played an incredible 867 games, including stints with the Leafs, Sabres, Kings, and Blues after the Oilers, winning 403 games. Earlier this season, Fuhr shouted out Stuart Skinner for breaking his win streak record with the Oilers.
Hopefully, Dustin Wolf can emerge for the Calgary Flames in time for their team coming out of a rebuild and finally moving into a new arena. In a few years, the Battle of Alberta could be a heated matchup once again.
