The 30 year old veteran Drake Caggiula has been recalled and with the Edmonton Oilers for the last 5 games, riding on the fourth line. In his brief stint with the team, Caggiula scored 0 points, and never played more than 10 minutes of ice time.
Caggiula was recalled after the injury to Zach Hyman, sustained in the Oilers' game against the Ottawa Senators.
The Oilers got great news for Hyman yesterday, as he returned to his first full practice with the team since sustaining the injury. Now that Caggiula has been loaned back to the AHL, it seems that Hyman is ready to join the Oilers lineup again for their home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
It's a great positive that the team will get back Hyman, who's a major piece to the top line and the secondary scoring for the Edmonton Oilers.
Unfortunately, Hyman is expected to be cut from the upcoming Team Canada Roster this year.
His early season scoring slump and injury may have affected the decision. Hyman has only 3 goals in 20 games this year, a far cry from his 54 goal campaign last season.
Hopefully when Hyman returns from this injury, he's fully rejuvenated and ready to have a great next part of the season. His scoring is dearly needed on the Oilers, evidenced By their 1-0 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights last night - the fourth time they've been shut out this season already.
