Capitals superstar Alexander Ovechkin has always been a jokester with his teammates and other players in the NHL. He's never been shy to give former teammates a proper welcome when they return to Washington DC .
This was the case when the Washington Capitals played against the Carolina Hurricanes and former Capitals forward Evgeny Kuznetsov was given a hilarious and subtle reminder that he is the enemy now.
As Ovi looked his stoic self skating away from Kuznetsov, you could see him smiling and laughing at his former teammate as the game was about to begin.
Kuzy, appears to be enjoying his time with Carolina as he was recently traded by the Capitals for a 2025 third round draft pick. He has had a rough outing during the 2023-2024 season as he entered the NHL player assistance program for substance abuse issues, where he was cleared a month later.
Having played nine games for the Hurricanes, he has scored two goals with three assists for five points and is a + 3 with 15 minutes and 55 seconds of ice time. If the trends continue, he will become a force for the Hurricanes as they seek a long run in the playoffs this year.
