The Penguins organization is growing nervous by the day as Sidney Crosby's new contract continues to stall and shows no signs of being resolved.

Many pundits in the NHL felt that a contract extension was imminent As a pending deal of three years worth $10 million a season was on the table. Tweets and other stories continued to swell saying that the deal was all but done and that Crosby was ready to sign.

Since then, there has been no sign that this was about to happen, and it seems the story is growing by the day. This could be as simple as Crosby is just not ready to sign his deal, it could also mean that he would like to leave Pittsburgh to chase after another Stanley Cup and not commit to a team that may be heading for a full rebuild.

As much as fans would like to see him sign his extension now, he is still a Pittsburgh Penguin and is in the final year of his deal. Which means he can sign at any point in time if it makes sense. Numerous players across the league are entering this kind of arrangement including the Oilers Leon Draisatil and NHL superstar Connor McDavid in the following season.

I firmly believe Crosby has no intention of leaving Pittsburgh as he has this sense of loyalty to the team that drafted him. I think he'll sign his deal when he's ready and is quite likely to remain a Penguin until he hangs up his skates for good.
