Not many hockey fans are fond of Player Safety regime, but Corey Perry has begun to pick up many fans across the NHL as a journeyman pest who was once a superstar player. Now, the Anaheim Ducks are poking fun at Corey Perry's personal connections within Player Safety with former teammates George Parros and Ryan Getzlaf running the show.
Getzlaf was announced to be joining Player Safety two days ago, now forming a team with George Parros that Corey Perry would know very well from his days with the Anaheim Ducks. Perry was drafted 28th overall by the Ducks in 2003 and played 14 seasons with the team, winning a Stanley Cup, Hart Trophy, and Rocket Richard Trophy. Many of those years he was the right hand man to Ryan Getzlaf, and George Parros was a fixture on the fourth line.
Perry hasn't been a dirty player in recent years, but he definitely gets into the muck with the opponents when he's being a pest on the ice. If anything, hopefully Perry's buddies with Player Safety will give him the benefit of the doubt if a case lands on their desk.
