Referee hilariously sends Quinn Hughes to the box while speaking to him like a child on hot mic
In last night's game between the Vancouver Canucks and Colorado Avalanche, a hilarious situation occurred when Canucks captain Quinn Hughes was receiving a penalty. Midway through the third Hughes was on his way to serve the penalty while barking at the referees, and the Ref had enough.
With his microphone turned on to announce the penalty to the arena, the referee began literally pleading with Hughes to just shut up and go to the penalty box. In a parental tone, he kept repeating «Go to the box, please! Now!»
It's odd that at just 24 years old, Hughes is sort of becoming a league veteran. Despite his extremely young age, Hughes has now captained the Canucks to a winning season, and has already played 350 games in the league. He's still got the perception of a younger player, evident by the ref speaking to him like a child, but Hughes is a certified league vet now - he's even earned the NHL pension already.
