Surprising player passes Connor McDavid for top selling jersey this year
It's always interesting to track the NHL's jersey sales as it pertains to the most popular players across the league. This year, a new player has surprised everyone and taken the throne for the top-selling jersey in the league this year - Connor Bedard of the Chicago Blackhawks.
There's been serious hype around Bedard as a generational talent on an original six team, and then also having an incredible rookie season, but it's still surprising to see him dethrone other NHL stars to become the highest selling jersey already.
Bedard has actually dethroned McDavid for the highest selling jersey in the league. McDavid has been near the top of the league for the last five years, along with Alex Ovechkin, Auston Matthews, and Sidney Crosby.
On a heavily depleted Blackhawks team, Bedard is finding ways to produce and be effective almost entirely by himself. In 46 games this year, he's scored 17 goals and 40 points, and is a lock to win the Calder Trophy for Rookie of the year.
