Team Canada has slowly been coming together, and earlier this week, the team has unveiled its full coaching staff. Jon Cooper will be the head coach, along with Bruce Cassidy, Pete DeBoer, Rick Tocchet, and Misha Donskov as assistants. The team will be managed by Don Sweeney, Kyle Dubas, Julien BriseBois, and Jim Hill.
The three biggest names added are Tocchet, Cassidy, and DeBoer. The latter two have led multiple teams through deep playoff runs, and Tocchet has begun making a real name for himself with the improvement of the Vancouver Canucks. Just like their lineup, the coaches are a slew of the NHL's best.
Six Players have already been named to Canada's all star roster, and among them of course is the Oilers superstar Connor McDavid. Projected rosters have already been released by the NHL, which also feature Evan Bouchard, Zach Hyman, and Stuart Skinner in the lineup for Team Canada.
The four nations tournament featuring Canada, USA, Finland, and Sweden, will be a great way to kick start international hockey again after such a long layoff. Still, it's clearly an inferior event to the upcoming Winter Olympics. Bruins forward David Pastrnak has expressed seriously ticked off about the lack of inclusion in the tournament, and Oilers star Leon Draisaitl likely feels the same way.
While it's clearly not perfect, but the Four Nations Faceoff will be an exciting step back into international hockey. Team Canada of course will be expecting to win Gold, but every other team in the tournament will be icing an incredibly skilled team. It will be an incredible watch on the bye week in the middle of the NHL season this year!
