Throughout this year's playoffs, Edmonton Oilers fans made Rogers Place a hostile environment for any other team, and Panthers forward Kyle Okposo admitted just that.

In a recent interview with Spittin' Chiclets, Okposo said the atmosphere in Edmonton was incredible, and it took the life out of the Panthers after Game 6.

That rink was, I mean, it was jumping. It was going. That was a really fun atmosphere to play in . . . It was loud. You guys were there and had a front row seat to it but, that bus ride after game 6 was hard.

It's nice to see a veteran forward like Okposo have a classy recognizition of the passion of Oilers fans. In the heat of the series players would absolutely deny that the crowd has any affect, but it's a reality the players can't ignore - especially when they're in Edmonton. In his 1051 game NHL career, Okposo said it was as loud as he's ever heard a crowd be.

The 36 year old veteran remains unsigned a week into free agency now. He's still a serviceable bottom six forward and a fantastic leader in the dressing room, and should be able to get a contract for next year if he doesn't decide to retire. It wouldn't be an awful way to go out however, for your last season to become a Cup Champion.
