Yesterday evening, the Calgary Flames pulled off a blockbuster deal to send Elias Lindholm to the Vancouver Canucks, and now are pretty much officially starting a rebuild. The Flames also traded Zadorov earlier this year, and are expected to deal Chris Tanev and Noah Hanifin as well soon. However, according to an NHL insider, the Flames have also been working hard to trade one player that nobody is interested in.

On today's edition of the Jeff Marek Show, Elliotte Friedman reported that the Flames have been shopping goaltender Daniel Vladar to no avail.

The 26-year-old netminder has served as the backup in Calgary for the last three years, putting up very mediocre results. In 71 career games, Vladar has a 2.95 GAA and .896 save percentage. This year he's struggled, dipping below his career average to a .888 save percentage. Currently, he has an extremely rich contract for his poor performance, earning $2.2M for the next two seasons.

It seems that Vladar will have to stick around in Calgary for the next two years if no other team in the league is willing to take on his salary for a below average backup goaltender.
