Another Oilers star forward out of commission with injury
With five days between games, the Edmonton Oilers clearly need to be taking in all the rest they can. After yesterday's practice saw Darnell Nurse and Evander Kane out dealing with nagging injuries, today, superstar Leon Draisaitl was out of commission.
While it's not likely that he'll miss any games, it's still concerning to see how many prominent Oilers are playing through these nagging injuries. After such a disappointing start to the season, every player is needed at their best to drag the team back into a playoff spot.
For that reason, it's extremely encouraging to see Nurse and Kane back at practice. Hopefully after this five day break, most of the stars get the rest they need to play to their full potential. This time off is also critical to the new coaching staff, who will have time to properly teach and implement any system changes they desire.
Hopefully, this time works as a healer for the Oilers, and they can pick up on their 4 game win streak they earned before the break. From now until the end of the season, every game and every player will be critical to making the playoffs, and contending for the Stanley Cup.
