After yesterday's practice during a long break between games for the Oilers, head coach Kris Knoblauch updated the media on the state of the team.

When asked about the 5 day break between games, Knoblauch was fully transparent with his answer - disclosing maybe too much information than he should.

The break has been both good and bad. I think the bad part about it is it can kill the momentum it's good for us because we had a lot of guys on the brink of breaking down physically.

Two players who especially could be breaking down are Darnell Nurse and Evander Kane, both of whom were absent from practice yesterday. It's likely they won't miss any game action after the break, but it's clear that they're playing through something minimally aggravating.

Still, providing this honest of an answer is surprising from an NHL coach. Usually, teams keep injury information close to the vest, trying not to give other teams any information they don't need. Hopefully, opposing players don't try to take too many physical liberties now knowing the Oilers are banged up.
