The career of Maxime Comtois was pegged as an elite prospect and to make the NHL quickly. During the 2017 Entry Draft he went in the second round 50th overall by the Anaheim Ducks.
After several seasons with the Ducks, he was not offered a qualifying offer and was released on July 1st 2023. He was signed to a PTO from the Vegas golden Knights where he was released again preseason ended.
He found a home with the AHL independent Chicago Wolves who played tonight against the San Diego Gulls, Comtois' body and ego took another blow as he faced off against Travis Howe in a fight.
Howe landed the first jab where Comtois threw a strong right-hand jab which led to Howe taking control and mauling the Wolves forward until he dropped him to the ice.
This fight had the crowd going and both skated off to the penalty box. In the end, the Wolves beat the Gulls 5-3. I think it's safe to say that Comtois should stick to scoring goals and helping in the offensive zone rather than with his fists.
