As the Oilers continued to sort out their goaltending situation on whether to bring back Jack Campbell from the AHL or seek out a new goaltender through trade, the news from the OHL is that Oilers prospect goalie Nathaniel Day is beginning to make waves and a name for himself after having a slow start to his season.

The daily grind and the constant work that's needed for the 18-year-old goaltender is certainly being noticed as he is doing all he can to improve his numbers in hopes the Oilers may call his name one day to the big league.

At the beginning of the 2023-2024 season he had allowed twenty goals in the first three games and was 0-5-0 with the 5.46 goals against average and a dismal .812 save percentage. Those kinds of numbers will not grant you any looks from any teams.

He decided to work with Oilers goalie scout Jeff Salajko and Flint goalie coach Greg Stefan to straighten out his game and improve his overall play.

Since then, his record improved to 10-5-1 with 3.26 goals against average and a save percentage of .888 through 16 games. His hard work is paying off and helping his team in the process.

He was drafted by the Oilers in the 2023 entry draft, in the sixth round, 184th overall.
