In terms of trade proposals, Carolina Hurricanes fans are really something, and there is one trade that might irk Oilers fans.

Trade ideas are often far-fetched, and ridiculous, and fail to take into account the actual variables GMs have to deal with.

This hypothetical trade originated in Carolina, which may explain its exaggeration.

From the article:

"Would Necas and Teravainen be enough (to trade for McDavid)?"
"The Hurricanes wouldn't make that trade. I don't believe it. [...] Trading two players for one is probably not the best idea."
- From the article

"Conner McDavid Traded To Carolina" is the title of an article published by a site covering the Carolina Hurricanes.

"Would Brett Pesce and money and/or future considerations be enough?"
"If Carolina's defensive problems without Pesce are any indication, I don't see them doing it. Pesce has too much defensive value to trade. [...]"

The article suggested trading "Conner" McDavid for Teuvo Teraveinen and Martin Necas.

Further considerations and money were added to sweeten the deal, including Brett Pesce.

If you were the Oilers to move Connor McDavid, you would need the Philadelphia Flyers to send you Matvei Michkov and Sean Courturier, as well as high end prospects and picks to begin with.

While Necas has a high upside, he is a considerable downgrade from many other young players with high potential, considering Nick Suzuki is a better option than Necas, and Teraveinen is a rental player whose contract is about to expire.

Any GM who sent Bretty Pesce + assets alone would be laughed out of any NHL front office.

This trade is highly absurd and who would even agree to it? Not even a drunk Ken Holland.
