When times are desperate, teams will resort to desperate measures. The Oilers have reached this stage already, and they haven't even completed 20 games this season.

There are problems up and down the lineup as the team struggles out of the gate, attempting to fix what ails them.

The goaltending situation is by far the most critical issue at this time, with Jack Campbell being placed on waivers for assignment after yet another dismal start to the season.

The evidence is clear: Campbell has completely lost his ability as an NHL goalie. He displayed signs of these problems while with the Toronto Maple Leafs, especially when the team allowed crucial goals that resulted in their losses.

At the time of his demotion, he had played five games this season, only managing one win, with a goals-against average of 4.50 and a save percentage of .873.

These numbers are truly atrocious for a goaltender making $5 million a year and are very unforgivable and inexcusable.

With Campbell gone and Skinner left to hold the fort, it's no surprise that rumblings across the NHL indicate the Oilers are in the market for a goalie ASAP. One goalie in particular, who also had trouble in the NHL, more so with his temper and lack of judgment, is St. Louis Blues goalie Jordan Binnington.

It has been well known that Binnington could use a change of scenery, as general manager Doug Armstrong has been looking for a potential buyer. Unfortunately, the timing is not right for a trade, as teams continue to evaluate their talent and are unwilling to part with a goaltender or take on additional cap space.

Times are turbulent for the Oilers, and it doesn't appear to be ending soon.
