In the spirit between two elected officials and sports fans Alberta premier Danielle Smith challenge Florida's governor Ron DeSantis to a bet between them has the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers do battle in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Premier Smith has Beth governor DeSantis if the Oilers win Stanley Cup, DeSantis would ship some Florida rum to Edmonton. If the Panthers win Smith would send DeSantis some Alberta made whiskey down to Tallahassee.

Our Edmonton Oilers are going to beat the Florida Panthers and when we do, would you send some of your finest Florida rum to Alberta for us to celebrate with?

If by some miracle the Panthers win the series, then I will send some fine Alberta-made whiskey down to Florida.

These friendly wagers go on usually every year as mayors, premiers and even presidents and prime ministers will challenge each other in a friendly wager as bragging rights are being held for the country and for the state or province.

Recently, Vancouver mayor Ken Sim made a wager with Edmonton's Mayor Amarjeet Sohi when the Oilers play it against the Canucks in the Western Conference final.

As of yet, governor DeSantis has yet to respond to her wager and it remains to be seen on whether he will or not.
