This year, Connor McDavid collaborated with the NHL to redevelop the All Star Skills competition, and it was a smash success. The players were much more engaged with an actual skills competition, especially with a prize of $1M on the line. McDavid ended up winning the competition and the prize, but now some fans are bothered by the fact McDavid hasn't donated the money publicly.

On a recent episode of the Steve Dangle Podcast, the hosts brought up some fan's criticism of not donating the prize to an Edmonton hospital. Host Adam Wylde defended McDavid, citing the fact that he already makes incredible efforts to the community in Edmonton - if someone is clamouring for donations, it'd be better to ask Daryl Katz or the NHL instead of McDavid.

»Are you kidding me? Who's got more money: the guy receiving the money, or the guy who wrote the check? If you wanna hit someone up for a charitable donation, then you can feel free to hit up the NHL and its ownership. Let him take his f****ng money because he put on a great show. Connor McDavid does a ton in the community.»

Considering all the efforts McDavid has done to give back to the city of Edmonton in his time here, it's bizarre that some fans would be on McDavid for this. It's not known what McDavid plans to do with the prize winnings, but immediately after winning the event he mentioned sharing it with his teammates - which would also be an incredible gesture. Whatever McDavid decides to do with his money, it shouldn't be anyone's business.
