Moments ago, the Boston Bruins announced that their legendary play by play announcer Jack Edwards will retire at just 67 years old at the end of this season.

Edwards has been the voice of the Bruins over the span of 20 years, and has always had a reputation of being an unapologetic fan of the Bruins. Though some fans may not like his pro-Bruins commentary, that's what makes it special to their fans - just like Jack Michaels does with the Oilers. It's sad to see such a legendary commentator go, especially for the tragic reason.

In the last couple seasons, Edwards' commentary has noticeably taken a sharp decline. In a statement given through the press, Edwards gave a heartbreaking revelation and admitted his decline in the booth.

I am no longer able to attain the standards I set for myself, to honour the fans, the players, the Bruins Organization, and NESN with the best they all deserve.

Jack Edwards' speech has noticeably slowed and now can't keep up with the play anymore. Still wanting to continue in his career and solve a frustrating slow down in his speech, Edwards saw multiple neurologists and every other doctor possible - who simply can't explain why Edwards' speech is beginning to fail.

It's a tragic end for one of the most electric announcers in recent NHL history. All hockey fans wish the best to Edwards in retirement.
